Digital Literacy
Is your source reliable?
How do you know?
Knowing how easy it is to create misinformation can highlight just how carefully you need to analyse and evaluate what you see, hear, and read!
Your challenge today is to think of the wildest story you can and make it sound believable.....
Martians stole your wheelbarrow? Sure!
A talking tomato reminded you of the benefits of exercise? No problem!
Found the Titanic in Lake Hume? You got it!
Your cat walked through a portal to another dimension and came back as a possum? Purrrfect!
Have fun!

Wellness Wednesday's Reading Activities:
Thursday's Activities:
Learning Focus: Synthesising
Learning Intention:
We are learning how to "see the bigger picture" as we read by merging our thinking with the information we read in order to come to a new and more complete understanding of the text.
Success Criteria:
I can describe how I use my background knowledge to create visual think about meaning while I read.
I can add new knowledge to my ideas.
First, lets talk about the text. Activate your prior knowledge by taking note of the things that you already know. We can use a graphic organiser to help us organise our thoughts, like the 'Synthesising Eggs' example further down the page.
Next, let's read a page that the author has included at the back of the book. As you read, listen carefully in your head for new knowledge. When you hear something new, add this new knowledge to your notes.
Next, let's read a page that the author has included at the back of the book. As you read, listen carefully in your head for new knowledge. When you hear something new, add this new knowledge to your notes.
Finally, you are going to select a ‘Good Fit’ text and read for 20 minutes. Concentrate on increasing your reading stamina (doing something for a long time without getting distracted and giving up).

Success Criteria:
I can describe how I use my background knowledge to create visual think about meaning while I read.
I can add new knowledge to my ideas.
First, review the new information you added to the Graphic Organiser from Thursday’s activity.
Next, re-read the page that the author has included at the back of the book. As we read, listen carefully for new knowledge. When you hear something new, add this new knowledge to the middle section of your ‘Synthesising Eggs’ graphic organiser.
Then, use two pieces of information that you found interesting and write a new sentence that ‘synthesises’ (or combines) your new knowledge with your previous ideas. Write these two sentences in the third section of your Synthesising Eggs graphic organiser.
Finally, you are to select a ‘Good Fit’ text and read for 20 minutes. Practise using the ‘Synthesising Eggs’ graphic organiser with your ‘good-fit’ book.
